The Smartlinx HDMI wireless extender provides 7 documented features: four receiver distribution, dual band transmission, factory pairing, an independent wireless link, H.265/HEVC encoding with 4K input support, USB-C power and included HDMI adapters.
Four receiver distribution. One transmitter feeds up to 4 receivers simultaneously. Each receiver connects to its own display. This configuration replaces an HDMI splitter plus four separate cable runs.
Dual band wireless transmission. The system operates across 2.4GHz and 5GHz and selects the band automatically. The 5GHz band carries higher throughput across shorter distances. The 2.4GHz band carries lower throughput across longer distances and penetrates obstacles more effectively. Both bands are defined for unlicensed use and are documented by the Wi-Fi Alliance for wireless networking equipment sharing the same spectrum.
Factory pairing. All 5 units ship paired. Connecting power and HDMI establishes the link, without a pairing procedure, an app or a configuration step.
Independent wireless link. The hdmi wireless transmitter and receiver create their own connection. The system joins no existing Wi-Fi network and requires no router and no internet access. Deployment involves no network provisioning, no VLAN assignment and no IT approval of a network-attached device.
H.265/HEVC video encoding with 4K input support. The transmitter accepts sources up to 3840×2160 at 30Hz, encodes using H.264 or H.265/HEVC and each receiver decodes to 1920×1080p at 60Hz. A 4K source connects without changing its output setting. H.265/HEVC delivers a given image quality at a lower bitrate than H.264, which supports stable transmission in a congested RF environment.
USB-C power. Each transmitter and receiver draws 5V at 1A across a USB-C connector and consumes a maximum of 2.61W. The USB-C connector is standardised by the USB Implementers Forum. Five USB-C cables are supplied.
Included HDMI adapters. One Mini HDMI adapter and one Micro HDMI adapter connect the transmitter to compact source devices, including cameras and handheld recorders carrying those connectors instead of full-size HDMI.

Each receiver requires a 5V/1A power source near its display. Every display receives 1920×1080p at 60Hz, including 4K displays.
The source device HDMI output determines compatibility rather than the operating system, because the transmitter accepts an HDMI signal already generated by the source hardware. Windows and macOS both present the transmitter as a connected display. No driver, application, or software installation is required on either platform.

Protected content playback depends on HDCP compliance across every device in the signal path. HDCP is administered by Digital Content Protection LLC and applies at the source, at every intermediate device, and at the display. Netflix documents that HDCP problems prevent protected content from playing. Disney+ documents that compatible HDCP components are required for high-quality protected playback.
HDCP support for this system is not currently published. Smartlinx support confirms HDCP behaviour on request, and confirmation is advisable before purchase for use with a streaming device, a cable box, a set-top box, or a Blu-ray player. A display shows a black screen or an error message rather than the content, where a source applies HDCP and any device in the path lacks the required version. This behaviour is a property of the content protection standard and not a fault in the wireless link.
